Chinese Manufacturer accused Apple of pirating its program Siri voice assistant
The U.S. giant Apple computer appeared Wednesday before a Chinese court after being accused by a local manufacturer to copy the program voice assistant Siri.
Zhizhen Network Technology Co. claims that Apple violated its patent voice recognition software Xiao i Robot. The two sides were to present evidence Wednesday during a preliminary hearing, according to representatives of the Chinese company.
The company ensures that patented Xiao Zhizhen i Robot in 2004, while Siri, which was marketed to output version of the Apple iPhone 4S in 2011, was developed in 2007
The program of the Chinese company, which claims more than 100 million customers in the country, allows applications similar to Apple and works with both iOS brand apple as with its rival Android.
Zhizhen "asked Apple to stop manufacturing and selling products using its patents, once the violation has been established," said If Weijiang, a lawyer for the Chinese company. "We do not exclude the possibility of seeking damages in the future," he added. For its part, Apple refused to make any comment. After the preliminary hearing, the process should take place in July, according to a spokesman Zhizhen.
